Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be kept as needed to prepare a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive limited technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- A referring site, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic information. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Maintaining performance and site availability
- Routing a query to the selected search provider
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which content visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Amador County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to the Amador County Sheriff's Records Division, Superior Court, California Department of Justice BCIA, and California Megan's Law Website. California Penal Code section 11105 restricts access to state criminal history information, while the California Public Records Act begins at Government Code section 7920.000. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules govern information submitted to those tools. Review the applicable provider policy before running a search because those practices are beyond our control.
Links to Other Websites
Links may open sheriff, court, California agency, legal aid, or third-party search websites. The destination's privacy policy governs after departure from this site, so review it before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may track activity across sites through systems they control in order to tailor ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Standard safeguards are used for collected data, but no internet system is completely secure. Reasonable protection cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Data known to have come from a minor will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
California privacy and consumer-protection laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act at Civil Code section 1798.100 et seq., may provide additional rights based on residence and legal applicability. At a minimum, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
